1965 Coronet

1965 Coronet

The Dodge Coronet was reborn for 1965 as Dodge's midsize entry. From the start the Coronet meant performance and was available with the full race 426 Hemi. Selecting the Race Hemi created a vehicle that was much more suitable for the drag strip rather than street driving. Although the factory rated it at 425 horse power most experts believe the actual horse power was closer to 550. It was undoubtedly one of the most powerful production car engines ever built. But the Race Hemi was a little too uncivilized for most amateurs and few were sold.
