1966 Barracuda

1966 Barracuda

Updates were minor for the 1966 Barracuda and consisted of small appearance changes. The grill was changed with the turn signals being moved to the bumpers. Also, turn signal indicators were added to the front finders. The tail lights were also restyled slightly. The car was light and it performed well in rallies and endurance races. Unfortunately, the design was becoming a little dated and sales dropped to almost half of the previous years.

Appearance upgrades for 1966 included new taillights, new front sheet metal, and a new dashboard.
Sales were down for the 1966 Barracuda. The car did well on the track and Rally circuit.
“No, the Formula ‘S’ Barracuda, in its present form, won’t capture the hearts of the teen-age America. It could, provided Plymouth stuffed in its 383 V8 or even the Hemi, but this would utterly destroy the beautiful balance of the automobile.” Car and Driver

Not the prettiest car on the market

The Barracuda was not the prettiest car on the market. But for those looking for a well balanced car the Barracuda was a great choice. It racked up a great Rally and endurance record. It all boils down to style over substance. You will have to chose.
