Changes were minor for 1969. The most noticeable was a special "Big Bad AMX" were built mid year. The "Big Bad AMX" option included bright colors with body colored bumpers. The "Big Bad AMX" was available in orange green and blue. Another available option was a Hurst Competition Plus shifter for the Borg-Warner four speed manual transmission. An interesting option was the AMX SS. It was basically a legalized drag racing car built by Hurst. The 390 engine was topped by a pair of 650 cfm Holley four-barrels on an Edelbrock aluminum cross-ram intake. Doug's headers and other modifications. Horsepower was conservative advertised at 340 bhp. The Hurst version cost $5994 or nearly twice the regular sticker price of the base AMX.
