Buick Reviews

Staid old Buick dominated the muscle car market twice in its long history. The first Buick muscle car was the Gran Sports of the 1960’s and 70’s. These were introduced one year after the Pontiac GTO and were marketed to the more sophisticated crowd. By 1970 the GSX was a force all its own. The car sported outlandish paint schemes and a huge 455 cubic inch engine. Motor Trend Magazine declared the 1970 GSX 455 Stage I the fastest car they had ever tested up to the time. It was a winner.

By the middle of the 1980’s no one was producing the classic muscle cars that were all the rage in the late 1960’s. Buick decided to add a little life to the car market and the Grand National was the result. The Grand National evolved into one of the fastest cars of the decade and with it’s all black exterior it was both noticeable and menacing at the same time. Buick ended production in 1987 with a bang. The 1987 Buick GNX was the ultimate Buick muscle car.
