Barracuda production ended on April 1, 1974. That was ten years to the day from when it had begun.
The 1974 Barracuda was identical to the 1973 Barracuda with the exception of the engine choices. The 340ci V8 was replaced by the more economical and less powerful 360ci V8.
The car had been on the market for eleven model years and today the cuda is considered on of the classic muscle cars of all time.

The 1974 Barracuda was the last of the great Plymouth pony cars. Changes were absence for 1974 with the exception of the engine options. The performance designed 340ci small block was replaced with a 360ci engine. The change was directly related to fuel economy and the larger engine actually saw a decrease in performance.

The legacy of the Barracuda will live on in the new 2008 Dodge Challenger. One look at the new Challenger and it is obvious that it takes more of its styling cues from the ‘Cuda than it does from its namesake.

get the facts right

You need to get the your facts in line before you put them out there.For exaample.74 360 Cudas had 245 hp and 320 lbs ft torque, that would be more than the 73 340 right?Do your homework instead of spewing incorrect info.

No one noticed the end of an era

What a change a few years made. Just four years earlier, the 'Cuda was one of the best performance cars ever. By 1974 it was just a memory. The Barracuda was a great design and it was a solid base for some outstanding engines. Unfortunately, the market changed.
