Company Overview
Lucra Cars builds high-quality reproduction cars based upon the Lister Jaguars and Corvettes of the late 1950s. The Lucra LC470 is available in four versions: The LC470-S ($85,000) and the LC470-SC ($118,000) are both complete cars that are ready to drive. Lucra can build these to meet local emission for both the United States and Europe. Lucra will also build a race version for those that only want to race the car. Finally, Lucra also offers a version in Components for those that want to build their own replica.
The LC470 is capable of supercar performance. The sub 2,000 pound roadster can go from 0-60 in 3.4 seconds with the recommended 5.7 liter 400hp LS6 Corvette small block engine. With a more powerful 600hp Chevrolet small block, the car is capable of 9.1 second quarter miles times. Top speed is estimated at 180mph. Skid pad numbers are reported at 1.3g’s on street tires. The LC470 braking system can stop the car from 60 mph in approximately 96 feet.
Power Train
All engines are General Motors based and generally come from Corvettes. Lucra offers the following engines:
• GM LS6: Aluminum fuel injected 350 ci, 5.7 liter with 400 bhp (recommended)
• GM LS3: Aluminum fuel injected 385 ci, 6.3 liter with 550 bhp
• GM LS7: Aluminum fuel injected 427 ci, 7.0 liter with 630 bhp
• GM ZZ4: carbureted 350 ci, 5.7 liter with 375 bhp (race engine)
Power is delivery to the rear wheels through a Tremec TKO 600RR transmission for both the street and race version. The rear axle is Dana built with a 3.07 final drive ratio.
Body/Chassis/ Suspension
The body is molded from one piece of carbon fiber and weighs less than 160 pounds. Because it is one piece, it maximizes strength through the elimination of body seams. The carbon fiber body is fully integrated into the chassis. Lucra also offers hard and soft tops as options.
The chassis is composed of Powder coated .120 HREW 4” round steel tube. The LC-470 maintains 53% percent of its weight over the rear wheels. This allows for greater traction and road handling characteristics. The designers at Lucra have gone great lengths to improve balance. They even offset the engine and transmission 1 ¼ inches to the right and they mounted the battery in the trunk on the passenger’s side so that the weight of the driver would be offset.
The front and rear suspension is fully independent. The front uses unequal length double “A” arms. The upper and lower control arms are made of forged aluminum. Also, the entire system is adjustable so that the driver can tailor it to his needs.
Interior
The Lucra LC470 has a respectable amount of space for driver and passenger. Driver position is fully reconfigurable to optimize balance and driving comfort regardless of the driver's height. The brakes pedal, clutch pedal, gas pedal and the gearshift position can be set to suit the driver.
The car can be supplied with hand diamond-stitched Connolly leather seats, Alcantara trim, and leather bound Rolls Royce wool carpeting or it can come with a stripped down version for racing. According to Lucra, drivers up to 6’7” can comfortable drive the car even with the soft top up. Finally, the trunk easily holds two sets of golf clubs and luggage.
Other Vehicles By This Manufacturer And Competing Models
Currently, the LC-470 is the only model that Lucra builds. The LC-470 is fairly unique in the Kit Car market dominated by Cobra styled kit cars. For those wanting to standout form the crowd, the LC-470 is a fine choice.
